The Trivia Club meets for regular practice sessions twice a week at the Club's Room of UCU. We use old packets from all sorts of past tournaments, with a focus on academic questions. Question difficulty ranges from easy (high school level) to difficult (national quizbowl competition), though sometimes we like to mix it up with some trash (pop culture: movies, TV, sports, music, ads, etc.).

On Wednesdays, we sometimes head out to the Sandy Hill Royal Oak on Laurier after practice to take part in pub trivia under the proud banner of The Polymaths. Pub trivia is mostly pop culture, featuring questions on celebrity gossip, popular television shows, movies, music, etc. Common features include a song clips round where you listen to clip of (not necessarily current) popular music and you have to guess the title and/or the artist, a picture round where you name the face/painting/event depicted, a rush round where the points you earn decrease as more clues are read, and a wild card question where you bet points on whether or not you'll answer the question right. It's generally a pretty great time, and it's a great way to see your fellow club members in a disinhibited state.

Several times a year, we also head out to tournaments. Past locations have included U of Guelph, McMaster, U of T, Chicago, Buffalo, and (of course) Ottawa! Club funds help to sponsor tournament fees and expenses of individual members. Tournaments can vary in their level of difficulty and amount of pop culture included, so don't feel daunted to try one out. We have a pretty informal atmosphere, but here's a list of some of our members and the people who shoulder a few extra duties in the name of trivia.
